Training

A Typical training session includes:

  • meet and greet
  • equipment and its use/instruction
  • movement, tracking with eyes and body
  • athletic ability to play the position

Skill Development:

Using their own equipment students slide in the crease, practice in the school rink and use the school gym equipment to build muscle strength.

Strengths necessary to be a Goalie:

  • Physical strength
  • Quick reflexes
  • Mental attitude
  • Understanding and playing the position properly
  • Skating ability

Position Techniques:

  • Forward/Reverse in skate edges
  • Butterfly
  • Lateral slide
  • T-push
